Turkmen delegation exchanged best practices on the comprehensive approach to the protection of migrants’ health in Switzerland

Geneva, Switzerland, 14 May 2015. The Turkmen Delegation of 7 participants representing the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the State Migration Service, the State Service for Protection of Security of Healthy Society, the Ministry of Interior as well as the public organizations “Family” and “Beyik Eyyam” completed a four-day study visit on the comprehensive approach to the protection of migrants’ health.

Turkmen delegation exchanged best practices on migration and health in Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal, 24 April 2015 – a five- day study visit on migration and health for the of government officials of Turkmenistan has been completed in Lisbon, Portugal, which was jointly organized by IOM Turkmenistan and IOM Portugal.
In the course of the study visit, a number of meetings with diverse actors ranging from government institutions to International and public organizations, to professors and researchers dealing with migrant issues was held focusing on various aspects of migration affecting the health of migrants. »Read more...

Turkmenistan Addresses International Migration and Health Challenges

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 17 November 2014 — International Organization for Migration, in partnership with Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Health and Medical Industry and the State Migration Service, organized a roundtable on migration health. The purpose of the roundtable was to build the capacity of senior Turkmen officials in the area of international migration and health, and to help the government and its partners to align existing practices with international standards, in the context of the 2008 World Health Assembly Resolution (WHA) on the Health of Migrants (61.17). »Read more...

Working group had a meeting to develop a draft National Action Plan on Combating Human Trafficking (NAP)

Ashgabat, 26 July, 2014 – Members of the working group came together to develop a draft of a National Action Plan on Combating Human Trafficking. Turkmenistan is a state party to a number of relevant international legal instruments on human rights, including combating human trafficking and strives to implement the relevant international obligations by taking concrete action. Turkmenistan adopted a national Law on “Combating Human Trafficking” in December, 2007 and the new article 1291 on TIP was included in the Penal Code in May, 2010. »Read more...
